Job Description
Position Purpose
The Marketing Specialist – PR & Events supports the execution of public relations and event initiatives that strengthen brand awareness and engagement in the local market. This role partners closely with the Senior Manager – Communications & Events and collaborates cross-functionally to ensure consistent messaging, seamless event execution, and accurate performance reporting.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities
Support public relations plans and day-to-day activities that enhance brand visibility and protect brand reputation.
Assist with building and maintaining local media and community relationships, including managing contact lists and pitching calendars.
Draft, route, and distribute PR materials such as press releases, media alerts, event invitations, talking points, and internal announcements.
Help triage press inquiries and support issue or corrective communications as directed.
Coordinate customer-facing events (e.g., product demonstrations, open houses, customer appreciation events), including timelines, invitations, logistics, and post-event follow-up.
Support employee-facing and HR-related events (e.g., recruiting events, onboarding activities, engagement initiatives) in partnership with HR.
Partner with the Marketing Automation team to support employee prospecting and nurturing campaigns, including list updates, content coordination, and basic reporting.
Track media coverage and event performance; compile monthly activity recaps and basic metrics such as attendance, engagement, coverage, and spend versus budget.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders (HR, Sales, Operations, Safety, Facilities) to confirm needs, approvals, and participation for communications and events.
Manage event logistics including venue and vendor coordination, purchase requests, run-of-show planning, signage and collateral, post-event surveys, and invoice tracking.
Represent the company at select community and industry events as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
2–4 years of experience in public relations, event coordination, marketing, or communications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with strong attention to detail.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting media outreach and maintaining press lists; familiarity with the local San Antonio market is a plus.
Familiarity with email marketing platforms, CRM tools, and/or social media publishing platforms.
Experience supporting employee or internal communications and events.
Spanish-speaking (conversational or fluent).
Prior experience tracking event budgets, invoices, and performance metrics.
Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and with external partners.
Creative thinker with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
Customer- and employee-focused approach to communications and events.
High level of professionalism and comfort representing the company in public settings.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to support event coverage.
Job Conditions
Primarily office-based with regular local travel for meetings and events.
Occasional work outside normal business hours for event execution.
Physical Requirements
Sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
