Job Title: Distribution Designer
Job Description This role involves providing distribution design for overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems ranging from 4 kV to 69 kV. The position requires engaging in design activities, conducting quality reviews, monitoring project schedules, and identifying risks that could impact the schedule and budget. Additionally, the designer will present opportunities for improving the design and construction of distribution projects and mentor junior designers.
Responsibilities
Design overhead and/or underground distribution facilities.
Prepare design sketches, drawings, cost estimates, bills of material, and other required construction documents.
Apply applicable standards, guidelines, specifications, practices, and industry standards in preparing designs.
Perform distribution system design calculations.
Prepare and oversee the preparation of design documents for construction, including plan and profiles, structure loadings, design details, trench and conduit drawings, and equipment specifications.
Communicate with clients and engineers on system requirements and identify the Right of Way for proposed equipment.
Acquire field data as necessary and work with field surveying to prepare appropriate designs.
Promote and perform quality reviews of designs to ensure compliance with design standards, safety requirements, and good industry practices.
Check and validate project drawings and those of peers.
Essential Skills
One or more years of experience in the design of electric utility distribution systems in a consulting or utility environment.
One or more years of experience in electrical design using AutoCAD.
One or more years of experience with distribution design software.
Associate degree in applied science (AAS) in drafting and computer-aided (CAD) design or in civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering technology, or equivalent experience and/or education.
Work Environment The role requires the use of technologies such as CAD software and involves working closely with field surveying teams. The work will be conducted in an environment that emphasizes design quality, compliance with safety standards, and good industry practices.
Workplace Type This is a hybrid position in Phoenix, AZ.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00–$30.00/hr.
