Ophthalmic Photographer, Ophthalmology - Full-Time, Days

Overview Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as an Ophthalmic Photographer with our Ophthalmology team in DCAM - Hyde Park. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.

Responsibilities

Under the direction and order of the physician, perform patient examinations that include fluorescein angiograms, fundus photos, corneal topography, external ocular photos, and videotapes of ocular motility.

Assist with the development and maintenance of the computer database of patient history and diagnosis. Maintain photo records, equipment and supply inventory.

Communicate with patients and customers, adjusting to patient and customer needs, respecting one another, and maintaining an appropriate environment.

Obtain images of the eye using imaging equipment such as Zeiss OCT, Zeiss Visucam, Zeiss Visual Field, Optovue, Heidelberg, Haag-Strait Lenstar, Optos, Slit-Lamp Camera, Pentacam, and other equipment with training when necessary. Obtain measurements of the intraocular lens with the IOL Master and other needed patient imaging.

Support patient care on the floor to work up patients as needed, including full ophthalmology workups.

Perform other duties as requested by management.

Assist with orders for photographic and medical supplies as needed in the imaging suite.

Check equipment and inform the manager when equipment needs repair or preventative maintenance.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency.

Successful completion of an accredited program for Ophthalmic Technicians.

One year of satisfactory work experience under ophthalmological supervision.

Must be certified by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology or equivalent.

One year of hands-on experience with using all necessary imaging devices to care for ophthalmology patient population.

Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) required; Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) preferred or within 2 years of employment.

Shift: Days – 10 hour shifts – M-TH 8:30 am - 7 pm or T- Th 8:30 - 7 & F 7:30 am - 6

The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
