Technical Theater Director
for the 2026–2027 school year at an independent school in
Houston, TX .
Responsibilities of Technical Theater Director
Teach several sections of technical theater courses for middle and upper school students.
Manage setup and maintenance of sound, lighting, and AV equipment for school events.
Lead technical planning for all productions, including design integration, build timelines, load‑in, technical rehearsals, and post‑show strike operations.
Collaborate with students and faculty to produce dance, music, and theater productions.
Oversee installation of sets, lighting, and technical elements for performances and events.
Manage and maintain all performing arts spaces, including theaters, black box spaces, and technical equipment.
Supervise and mentor students in technical theater disciplines such as set construction, lighting design, sound, and stage management.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Theater, Education, or a related field required (Master’s preferred)
Previous experience with set design, sound, lighting, and/or stage management required
Prior K–12 theater teaching experience strongly preferred
Extensive knowledge of technical theater, equipment, and best practices
Ability to build sets for theater productions
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Interest in contributing to the school community outside the classroom (e.g., coaching, advising, or leading student clubs)
