This protection is available to both published and unpublished works. The United States Copyright Office, a service unit of the Library of Congress, administers the administration of Copyright Law, and provides Copyright registration and other services to the citizens of the United States and others concerned with American copyrights. The incumbent will serve as a Paralegal Specialist in the Office of General Counsel (OGC) and the Office Policy and International Affairs (PIA) of the United States Copyright Office, reporting to a Supervisory Attorney. Using a working knowledge of copyright law, civil procedure, and related federal statutes and regulations, the incumbent performs legal research and analysis; collects, analyzes, and prepares documents for disclosure in response to litigation or Freedom of Information Act requests; drafts documents and materials; monitors dockets and filings; plans and assists in the running of certain public events; and maintains legal files.
