Overview Job Title: Employee Relations Service Specialist

Location: San Diego, CA

Salary Pay Range and Other Compensation: $70,304 - $90,000 annually. Compensation is based on several factors including but not limited to the applicant’s skills, work experience, knowledge, abilities, and education.

Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire

FLSA Status: Exempt

Schedule: Mission Valley - Hybrid. First 3 months onsite Monday through Thursday, then transitions to 3 days onsite and 2 days remote, with Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday in office.

About the Role We are seeking an Employee Relations Service Specialist to support clients by resolving HR-related matters in a timely and professional manner while maintaining a high standard of service and minimizing risk. This role partners closely with HR Business Partners and stakeholders to provide strategic HR guidance across the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding through offboarding. This position requires a strong executive presence, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to balance a business-focused mindset with a client-centric approach.

Responsibilities

Build consultative partnerships and deliver high-touch HR service to clients

Partner with HR Business Partners to resolve employee relations and service-related matters

Support high-volume onboarding efforts, including background check escalations and client-specific requests

Administer leave of absence programs independently

Draft offer letters and assist with termination correspondence

Manage motor vehicle-related escalations throughout the employment lifecycle

Resolve I-9 reauthorizations and partner on immigration-related escalations

Coordinate account terminations with clients and internal teams

Provide cross-functional HR support to service teams

Complete compliance and operational projects to support HR service improvements

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required

2-3 years of progressive HR experience, including 1-2 years in employee relations

Experience supporting multi-state employees or working in a client-facing HR environment preferred

PHR or SHRM-CP certification strongly preferred

Strong experience resolving employee relations matters with sound judgment

Excellent communication skills with strong executive presence and emotional intelligence

Strong time management and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Customer service-oriented with a solutions-focused mindset
