
CAD/Print Designer Soft Accessories

We are working on a temp‑to‑perm CAD/Print design role with a top company in NYC. The role is full‑time, located in their midtown office, requiring 4 days onsite and 1 remote each week. We are looking for someone with strong print/pattern, engineered prints, and border prints experience for their licensed accessory team. The Print Designer, Soft Accessories develops market‑driven print designs for use across our product lines. This role is responsible for creating original artwork and/or manipulating licensor/customer artwork into layouts and colorways that align with brand direction, seasonal color palettes, trends, and production requirements, while collaborating closely with soft accessories designers and cross‑functional teams from concept through final execution.
Salary: approx $80,000–$85,000 at full time based on experience, with potential for increases.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Innovation
Design original artwork, repeated, placed, and engineered layouts and colorways for soft accessories including scarves, headwear, layers, etc.
Collaborate with soft accessories design team to develop artwork from initial sketches through final production‑ready files.
Research trends in color, layout, silhouette, material, and technique to inform concepts.
Operations & Results
Prepare files for sampling and production and work with manufacturing partners to troubleshoot and ensure final execution.
Revise designs based on feedback and sampling results, approve layouts and colorways, and drive improvements and revisions.
Accountable for meeting deadlines as outlined on the seasonal time and action calendar.
Maintain organized digital libraries of artwork and design files.
Organize samples and reference materials in the design archives library.
Customers & Relationships
Direct communication and follow‑up with external customers and contacts including suppliers, manufacturers, and licensors.
Daily communication and collaboration with internal cross‑functional and overseas teams.
Attend product and design meetings as requested; domestic/international travel as required.
Required Qualifications
Exceptionally detail oriented with superior organizational skills and excellent communication & presentation skills.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, multi‑task, and meet deadlines.
Solid understanding of repeat design, engineered placement, and color theory.
Knowledge of accessory printing techniques, including digital and screen printing.
Ability to design with product intent, considering placement, proportion, and end use.
Familiarity with production limitations and material‑specific design considerations.
Bachelor’s degree in textile design, apparel design, accessories design, graphic design, or related field, with years of experience designing prints for fashion accessories or related product categories.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and Mac computers.
