Job Summary The Employee Relations Specialist I provides essential support and guidance to employees and managers on a wide range of workplace matters. This role is responsible for conducting workplace fact findings, facilitating conflict resolution, advising on performance management processes, and providing guidance on disciplinary actions. The ER Specialist ensures compliance with company policies and labor laws while fostering a positive and respectful work environment. Additionally, this role plays a key part in building and maintaining constructive relationships with employees, and management.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Serve as a primary point of contact for employee relations issues.
Conduct workplace fact findings to gather facts, identify issues, and recommend appropriate actions.
Provide conflict resolution and mediation services to help employees and managers address workplace disputes.
Support the performance management process by advising on disciplinary actions, performance improvement plans, suspensions, demotions and terminations.
Consult with employees and managers on the interpretation and application of company policies.
Assist with drafting coaching or disciplinary documents and talking points.
Ensure timely, accurate and thorough documentation of employee relations cases, including detailed case notes and supporting materials within the ER case management system to support decision‑making and legal compliance.
Collaborate with HR Business Partners, Labor Relations, Legal, and Compliance to ensure consistent and compliant practices.
Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance the employee relations function.
Maintain knowledge of labor relations and compliance requirements related to day‑to‑day management of employees to support reducing labor risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the labor relations department as needed/required.
Maintain knowledge of legal and compliance requirements related to day‑to‑day management of employees to support reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the labor relations department as needed/required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field OR equivalent work experience
Minimum Experience
Employee Relations Spec I: No experience required with degree; 0-2 years of experience without degree.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Basic communication, influencing, and leadership skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations
Certificates, Licenses, etc.
HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM‑CP, SHRM‑SCP) is a plus
Travel Percentage:
