
Interim Senior Benefits Specialist

Our client is looking for a hands-on Senior Benefits Specialist to provide immediate, high-impact support during a critical period — including active open enrollment and ongoing benefits operations.
Compensation: $30-$40 hourly
Duration: 60 days minimum (could extend)
Location: Ideally someone who can come into Tampa once/week or REMOTE but must reside in Florida
Day to Day:
Open enrollment execution
— process elections, resolve discrepancies, troubleshoot with vendors and HR, and handle tier 1–2 employee questions on plan options and access
Benefits administration
— manage ongoing enrollment activity (new hires, life events, terminations); ensure accuracy in HRIS and with carriers
Reconciliation & data integrity
— post-enrollment audits, monthly carrier reconciliations, and resolving discrepancies across HRIS, payroll, and vendor systems
Vendor coordination
— day-to-day contact for medical, dental, vision, and COBRA vendors; track issues through to resolution
401(k) administration
— support eligibility, enrollments, employee inquiries, audit prep, and required notices
Compliance & communications
— ensure timely distribution of required notices (SPD, SMM, 401(k)); support employee communications and compliance documentation
Qualifications:
5–8 years of hands‑on benefits administration experience
Proven end‑to‑end open enrollment experience
Strong working knowledge of health & welfare benefits, 401(k) administration, and carrier/vendor coordination
Experience with benefits reconciliations and data audits
Comfortable handling employee questions and resolving issues independently
Workday or comparable HRIS experience preferred
Able to hit the ground running in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment
