Position Overview Praescient Analytics is seeking a
Senior SQL Database Administrator
to provide comprehensive database management for the Data Capabilities Division (DCD). You will lead the administration of approximately nine Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) hosting twenty databases across five distinct networks (NIPR, SIPR, JWICS, BICES, and CENTRIXS-K). This role ensures the performance, integrity, and security of databases supporting custom .NET applications within the Army Intelligence enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
Systems Maintenance:
Perform and record daily system checks (approximately 15 checks) to ensure 100% of findings are tracked via the DCD IT Portal.
High Availability:
Maintain healthy and reliable data replication using technologies such as Availability Groups.
Security & Compliance:
Apply the latest DISA STIGs within 30 calendar days of release and implement "least privileged access" security requirements.
Performance Tuning:
Optimize code and stored procedures to provide fast query responses and assist application developers with database requirements.
Disaster Recovery:
Develop and test backup and recovery plans, performing monthly integrity testing on at least 10% of database backups.
Technical Documentation:
Create and maintain logical architecture diagrams, entity relationship diagrams (ERD), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Operational Support:
Respond to unscheduled system outages within 30 minutes and provide after-hours on-site support with a 2-hour response time when notified of malfunctions.
Required Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum 8 years of experience in SQL database administration supporting production environments.
Technical Expertise:
5 years of experience installing and configuring Microsoft SQL Server in High Availability Group configurations.
Scripting:
5 years of experience with T-SQL, including writing scripts, stored procedures, triggers, and views to automate maintenance.
Leadership:
3 years of experience serving as a team leader, managing task progress, and mentoring junior personnel.
Security:
3 years of experience implementing security measures in accordance with industry best practices and DISA STIGs.
Active TS/SCI Level Security Clearance (U.S. Citizen).
Certifications
Current DoDD 8140.01 (formerly DoDD 8570.01-M) certification – IAT Level II (or higher). Examples: CompTIA Security+ CE, CompTIA CySA+, CompTIA Cloud+, GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC), GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).
Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or SQL Server 2016 or SQL Database Administration Certification.
