What You\'ll Be Doing
Job Scope:
We are looking for a motivated and skilled Mid-Level Electrical Designer to join our onsite Capital Projects Group. This role is responsible for producing accurate and detailed electrical design deliverables under the supervision of a senior designer and/or engineer, while actively contributing to field verification and project execution. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, takes ownership of their work, and brings a team-first mindset with a drive to grow professionally.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop electrical plans, details, and construction documents including single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel schedules, conduit routing, and cable schedules
Prepare instrument loop diagrams and control system documentation
Develop project cost estimates and material take-offs under senior engineer guidance
Maintain organized and accurate design files in compliance with department standards
Ability to use laser scan information and model in electrical components Field Work & Site Support
Conduct field surveys and site walk-downs to verify existing conditions and confirm design constructability
Support installation and commissioning activities on-site, including physically accessing equipment areas (climbing, lifting, working at height)
Read and interpret field measurements and accurately document findings
Interface with contractors and design leads/engineer to resolve field issues Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with structural, civil, mechanical, and process designers/engineers to ensure coordinated design packages
Participate actively in project meetings and contribute to team problem-solving
Support engineers and project managers with technical information as needed
Promote a positive, collaborative team environment across disciplines
Standards & Compliance
Ensure all designs conform to local and federal codes
Apply site engineering standards and project-specific requirements consistently
Ideal Background
Education:
Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting is required.
Certification:
Certification is not required at this level.
Experience:
This position requires 4+ years of relevant industrial experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or capital projects environment
Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Demonstrated experience producing electrical construction documents including plans, details, and loop drawings
Experience with cost estimating is a plus
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD and applicable electrical design software and modeling systems (such as Cadworx, Plant 3d, Revit, etc)
Working knowledge of NEC and industrial electrical standards
Ability to read, interpret, and mark up engineering drawings and specifications
Familiar with Bluebeam Revu e for project collaboration
Knowledge of instrumentation and control systems is not required but would be an advantage in this role
Self-motivation - takes initiative, follows through without being prompted, and manages their workload proactively
Adaptability - stays effective and focused when priorities shift or project conditions change rapidly

Ability to perform field work including climbing ladders and stairs, lifting up to 30 lbs, working in confined or elevated spaces, and reading measuring tapes and field instruments
