Responsibilities of Purchasing Agent:
Perform a variety of procurement functions to obtain the highest quality goods and services, including machinery, equipment, tooling, repairs and parts, in order to achieve the optimum value for the organization
Evaluate, coordinate and monitor shipments to ensure efficient operation while maintaining quality and cost
Manage the acquisition of assigned commodities from concept to completion and manage supplier performance as it relates to quality, delivery, cost and service
Correspond with internal customers and outside suppliers to ensure procurement related requirements are met
Purchasing functions such as quoting, negotiating, placing orders, handling quality issues, follow up for on time delivery, expediting, maintaining purchasing budget
Research and identify specialized resources inside or outside of the organization that will effectively meet the needs of the situation
Qualifications for Purchasing Agent:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain or related field preferred OR Equivalent combination of education and 2-3 years related experience
Must be able to display appropriate proficiency with computers and computer applications, such as Excel and Lotus Notes
Experience with reading and comprehending blueprints and handling negotiations is preferred
