
Project Field Superintendent

Responsibilities
Responsible for job-site operations, as assigned, including all onsite activities of Bechtel, subcontractors, suppliers, clients and their representatives, and others as may be assigned within the area of responsibility.
Supervises all direct-hire Superintendents assigned to the project and manages project direct-hire work practices.
Overall responsibility for craft worker safety on the project in accordance with Bechtel's established Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) program.
Responsible for implementation of site and project safety programs.
Ensures strict adherence to all site requirements by subcontractors and professional craft personnel under their purview.
Ensures adherence to government, local authorities and site compliance programs.
Plans and implements procedures to ensure construction operations are continuously adhering to engineering designs, specifications, quality standards, schedules, and budgets.
Identifies and manages construction-based risk items as a member of the Construction Management Team.
Establishes, coordinates and implements construction schedules, manning charts, material and equipment requirements.
Works with Site Supervision, Field Engineering, and Project Controls to manage area schedules, construction methods and procedures.
Other Major Responsibilities
Manages Area work schedules in relation to the project overall execution plan and schedule.
Coordinates with Global Workforce Services and Labor Unions to staff and manage the project.
Responsible for overseeing the quality of installations and ensuring installed commodities meet project construction quality requirements.
Monitors the activities of Subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications, schedules and subcontract requirements.
Co‑ordinates activities with other disciplines or areas, and clients' resident representatives as instructed by construction management.
Co‑ordinates with Field Engineering to ensure required notifications for quality inspections are met.
Co‑ordinates general site needs (equipment, cranes, material deliveries, etc.) with the Indirect Manager and Staff.
Effectively communicates with internal and external customers related to project Construction activities.
Responsible for the field organization to ensure the job‑site organization is composed of qualified and knowledgeable personnel and ensures effective personnel utilization.
Monitors General Foreman/Foreman and Foreman/Worker ratios on the project for assigned direct hire work scope.
Monitors construction equipment utilization and maintenance. Monitors tool usage at site. Approves Field Materials Requisitions for tools and consumables and ensures that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.
Ensures construction site cleanliness and housekeeping requirements are met.
Ensures that all scope Bechtel complies with law and safety codes, requirements and standards within assigned area of responsibility.
Required Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge and experience of EPC Power or commercial nuclear construction projects is required.
Candidates shall be self‑stators, highly motivated, require little supervision, and be able to excel in a team environment.
Candidates shall have previous experience leading, mentoring and managing large Construction Teams.
The candidate should have a good working knowledge of current design codes and standards such as ACI, AISC, ASME, as well as NQA‑1 requirements.
Good working knowledge of Labor Relations, Labor Agreements and Craft Jurisdiction.
Knowledge of environmental compliance standards required on Industrial Power Projects.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
Recent experience with Nuclear Power or as an Areas Superintendent.
Previous experience in Construction Management (Site Manager, PFE or PFS) on a large Bechtel NS&E Project.
Previous experience/knowledge working with codes and standards.
Education and Experience Requirements
Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13‑15 years of relevant experience or 17‑19 years of relevant work experience.
Must be able to complete a pre‑employment drug screen and background check, including verification of employment, education and travel.
Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk‑downs which may require extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, using fall protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE), walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, and maneuvering around very small and/or confined spaces.
