Music Teacher (Middle School) with responsibilities including development of students' interest, abilities, talents and skills for music expression and creativity, implementation of district-approved curriculum, documentation of teaching and student progress, and creation of lesson plans. Responsibilities
Develops and administers school music curriculum consistent with district goals and objectives. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials; translates plans into learning experiences to optimize music instruction. Provides instruction to develop aesthetic concepts and appreciation, and the ability to make qualitative judgments about music. Conducts ongoing assessment of student skills in musical techniques and expression; modifies instructional methods to fit individual needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed. Organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and practice. Instructs students in proper care and use of music tools and equipment. Evaluates student performance and growth; prepares progress reports. Continues professional knowledge development by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or conducting research. Maintains accurate record-keeping, grading, and reporting for student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws. Encourages parental involvement and ensures effective communication with students and parents. Maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere; coordinates with other staff and participates in meetings and committees. Selects and requisitions books, materials, instructional aids, supplies and equipment; maintains inventory records. Provides a safe and optimal learning environment. Communicates progress, expectations and goals to students, parents and administration. Performs additional related tasks as assigned by the Principal and central office administrators. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of current music instructional methods and ability to differentiate instruction based on student learning styles. Knowledge of art curriculum and concepts. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students. Ability to use computer networks and software applications. Ability to organize and coordinate work; communicate effectively with students and parents. Ability to engage in self-evaluation and professional growth; establish cooperative working relationships. Qualifications
Applicants should pass an Arkansas State Police background check, an FBI and DHS background check. Certification/License: State Certification as a Music Teacher or as required for the position. Motor Vehicle Operator's License or the ability to provide own transportation. Education: Bachelor’s degree in education discipline applicable to teaching; Master’s Degree preferred. Experience: Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level and/or subject is a plus. Job Requirements
