Position Overview

The Department of Commerce is seeking a senior-level Lead Product Specialist to serve as the technical expert and operational lead for COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) applications. This role bridges business operations and IT infrastructure teams, ensuring reliable deployment, integration, and ongoing support of mission-critical systems across on-premises and cloud environments. Core Responsibilities

COTS Product Lifecycle Management

Own the full lifecycle of COTS products, from evaluation through deployment and operational support Design and implement solutions across Windows Server, Active Directory, and Azure/AWS environments Configure and optimize middleware (Tomcat/IIS) and implement authentication solutions (SAML) Manage OPSWAT MetaDefender for threat prevention and data sanitization Develop automation scripts and standardized deployment processes Vendor Management & Coordination

Lead vendor relationships and ensure alignment with technical and business requirements Manage escalations, SLA compliance, and vendor deliverables Coordinate vendor activities during implementations, upgrades, and incidents Ensure effective knowledge transfer from vendors to internal teams Cross-Team Collaboration (OIT Liaison)

Act as the primary liaison between business units and IT teams Collaborate with infrastructure teams (server, storage, networking, security) on system design and operations Define networking, firewall, and WAF requirements with security teams Manage F5 load balancing and TLS/SSL certificate lifecycle Participate in architecture reviews, governance, and change advisory boards Operational Support & Reliability

Provide Tier 3 support and lead root cause analysis for production issues Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity Support on-call rotation and incident response Manage patching, upgrades, and system maintenance Develop runbooks and disaster recovery procedures Security & Data Protection

Configure and maintain OPSWAT MetaDefender for file scanning and sanitization Implement secure file handling, upload policies, and quarantine procedures Monitor threats and coordinate with security teams for incident response Ensure secure data transfers and compliance with security standards Technical Leadership & Mentorship

Serve as the technical SME for COTS solutions and enterprise systems Translate business needs into technical designs and specifications Design high-availability and disaster recovery architectures Mentor junior team members and support skill development Lead knowledge-sharing sessions and maintain documentation standards Required Skills and Experience

Strong cross-team communication and stakeholder engagement ( Required, 9 years ) Regulated Environments:

Experience in government or compliance-heavy environments ( Required, 9 years ) Vendor Management:

Managing vendors and technical escalations ( Required, 9 years ) Additional Qualifications

Experience with virtualization and containerization technologies Familiarity with ITIL processes and ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow) Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
