Part-Time (20 hours/week) | $24–$28 per hour
Position Overview Epworth United Methodist Church, a newly merged and growing lay-led congregation, is seeking a passionate and creative Director of Children’s, Youth & Family Ministries. With a strong foundation of vibrant children, youth, and family programming, we are excited to expand and deepen our ministry to nurture faith, build community, and engage the next generation.
This leader will help shape a welcoming, inclusive, and spiritually enriching environment for children, youth, and families—both within the church and in the broader Longfellow community.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, lead, and grow children’s programming (Cabin Fever/Weed and Water Wednesday programming).
Create and plan Youth ministry programs
Build upon existing strong programs while introducing new opportunities for engagement and growth
Develop faith formation experiences that are creative, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate
Sunday & Midweek Ministry
Coordinate and lead Sunday morning children and youth’s programming during the program year
Plan and lead midweek programming (including Wednesday kids time)
Recruit and support volunteers for teaching, childcare, and special events
Family Engagement
Foster meaningful relationships with families
Create opportunities for intergenerational connection and faith development
Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers
Special Events & Seasonal Programming
Lead and coordinate events such as Vacation Bible School, retreats, service projects, and holiday programming
Collaborate with church leadership on all-church events that include children and youth
Collaboration & Leadership
Work closely with staff, volunteers and church leadership to align ministry with the church’s mission
Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the overall vision of the newly merged Epworth community
Schedule Expectations
20 hours per week
Required: Wednesdays, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Required: Most Sundays during the program year
Additional flexible hours for planning, events, and communication
Qualifications
Passion for working with children, youth, and families in a faith-based setting
Experience in children’s, youth, or family ministry (church or related setting preferred)
Understand and have worked with curriculum for programming on Sunday School or other school programming
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
Ability to recruit, train, and support volunteers
Creative, self-motivated, and collaborative spirit
Commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all
Compensation
$24–$28 per hour, commensurate with experience
Part-time, 20 hours per week
