South Campus Residence Director South Campus Residence Director at Syracuse University oversees daily operational, administrative, and programmatic initiatives for approximately 2,400 students residing in university‑owned South Campus apartments and residence halls, supporting more than 12,000 students in off‑campus neighborhoods.

Position Overview Charge of educational curriculum development, mentorship of Resident Advisors, crisis intervention, on‑call crisis response, violation resolution, program planning for independent‑living transitions, and community engagement to support student well‑being and expectations.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement the South Campus educational curriculum.

Mentor and coach up to nine Resident Advisors, and supervise paraprofessional staff (25–35).

Address crises and conflicts; serve on tier‑1 on‑call rotation for 14,000+ students.

Resolve violations of institutional policies and the Code of Student Conduct.

Plan and implement programs for students transitioning to independent living, including off‑campus initiatives.

Coordinate outreach and engagement efforts to support student wellbeing.

Maintain a visible presence in the South Campus community and Goldstein Student Center during normal business hours.

Develop relationships with new student programs, student engagement, international services, athletics, public safety, and housing office.

Assist in budgeting and program operations with the apartment and off‑campus residential living team.

Provide professional development, including workshops and training sessions to staff and students.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.

Preferred prior Residence Life/Student Affairs experience.

Experience in apartment‑style or independent living environments preferred.

Strong administrative and detail‑oriented skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication.

Ability to handle multiple priorities and work across constituencies.

Knowledge of student organization advising and conflict resolution.

Benefits Pay range $62,400 (subject to internal and external factors); full‑time, exempt. Standard university business hours: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (academic year) and 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (summer). Location: South Campus community.
