Position Summary The Summer Camp Director is responsible for the overall planning, organization, and execution of a safe, engaging, and high-quality summer camp program. This role oversees daily operations, staff management, programming, and communication with campers, families, and club leadership to ensure an exceptional camp experience.
Program Management
Develop and implement a dynamic camp schedule including activities, events, and special programming.
Ensure all programs are age-appropriate, inclusive, and aligned with camp goals.
Evaluate and continuously improve camp offerings based on feedback.
Staff Leadership
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise camp counselors and support staff.
Create staff schedules and manage timekeeping.
Foster a positive, professional, and energetic team environment.
Provide ongoing coaching, support, and performance evaluations.
Operations & Safety
Ensure all health, safety, and emergency procedures are followed at all times.
Maintain proper camper-to-staff ratios.
Oversee check-in/check-out procedures and daily attendance.
Handle incident reports and communicate any concerns appropriately.
Parent & Member Relations
Serve as the main point of contact for parents and members.
Communicate regularly regarding schedules, updates, and any issues.
Address questions, concerns, and feedback in a timely and professional manner.
Administrative Duties
Manage camp budget, supplies, and inventory.
Coordinate with other departments (food & beverage, facilities, aquatics, etc.).
Maintain accurate records, waivers, and camper information.
Qualifications
Previous experience in camp management, education, recreation, or a related field.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
Passion for working with children and creating a fun, safe environment.
Work Environment
Seasonal position with flexible hours, including early mornings and occasional evenings.
Primarily outdoors with varying weather conditions.
High-energy, hands-on role requiring active participation.
