Digital Marketing Lead

Role Purpose

The Digital Marketing Lead is responsible for leading organic digital strategy, execution, and performance across all digital platforms for D.C. United and Audi Field. This role ensures that brand campaigns and communications storytelling are effectively activated, distributed, and optimized across social, web, app, and owned digital channels.

The Digital Marketing Lead focuses on how and where content lives digitally, driving reach, engagement, and growth while partnering closely with Brand, Communications, Content & Creative, and Business Insights.

Compensation Range $85,000 - $110,000/year

Key Responsibilities

Organic Digital Strategy & Distribution Own organic digital strategy across social platforms, website, app, and owned digital channels. Lead digital activation plans for campaigns, content, and key organizational moments. Determine publishing cadence, platform prioritization, and distribution timing. Ensure consistent and effective execution across all digital touchpoints. Social Media Operations

Manage and oversee the Social Media Manager. Own day-to-day organic social publishing, platform execution, and community engagement strategy. Ensure social execution aligns with brand standards and communications narrative. Stay current on platform trends, algorithm updates, and best practices. Digital Performance & Optimization

Track and analyze organic digital performance, including reach, engagement, growth, and content effectiveness. Provide actionable insights and recommendations to improve digital execution. Share performance learnings with Brand, Communications, and Content teams to inform future work. Paid Media Collaboration

Partner with the Paid Media function within Business Insights to align campaign timing, audience strategy, and amplification plans. Share organic digital performance insights to inform paid media decisions. Ensure coordination between organic and paid digital efforts without direct ownership of paid execution, budgets, or optimization. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with Brand to ensure creative assets are optimized for digital platforms. Partner with Communications to support storytelling priorities and message amplification. Collaborate with Content & Creative Production to align formats, timelines, and platform needs. Coordinate with Business Insights to align digital performance data with broader audience insights. Operational Leadership

Establish workflows, calendars, and processes to support efficient digital execution. Manage digital tools, vendors, and platform relationships as needed. Support experimentation across emerging platforms and digital formats. Requirements

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience Demonstrated experience in digital media in-house or agency strongly preferred (paid search, social, and display) Proven experience managing digital media campaigns Relevant Bachelors Degree or equivalent The selected candidate must pass a background check
