North America Sales Director

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Sales Director to develop and execute a comprehensive national sales strategy across the United States. This individual is responsible for leading and mentoring a team of Regional Managers, driving the performance of the distributor and channel partner network and ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals. The position will also oversee an Inside Sales team and collaborate with Product Management peers. Additionally, a certain amount of time will be spent on direct sales efforts. The Sales Director will play a pivotal role in expanding market presence, enhancing customer engagement, and achieving growth objectives.

Essential Functions

  • Identify, recruit, and onboard new distributors and channel partners to expand market coverage.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and agreements with distributors.
  • Monitor distributor sales activity, pipeline, and market share to ensure accountability.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with distributors to evaluate performance, address gaps, and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide distributors with sales enablement tools, product training, and marketing support to drive success.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Regional Sales Managers.
  • Define territory plans and ensure alignment between regional staff and distributors in their regions.
  • Support major account negotiations, bids, and strategic projects.

Other Responsibilities

  • Develop incentive and recognition programs to motivate distributor and regional staff performance.
  • Build strong relationships with key accounts, industry associations, and influencers.
  • Provide market feedback to Marketing and Product Management to refine value propositions, pricing, and channel programs.
  • Deliver accurate sales forecasts and pipeline reports by region and distributor.
  • Track distributor performance metrics (sell‑through, market share, margin contribution).
  • Ensure compliance with company sales policies and ethical standards.
  • Ensure Gross Margins are reviewed and managed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field; MBA is a plus.
  • At least 10 years of progressive sales experience, ideally including some previous management experience.
  • Proven track record in distributor/channel partner recruitment, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to influence through distributors as well as direct teams.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot) and Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% domestically.

  • Manufacturing Environment: Must be able to work in a manufacturing company, which may involve exposure to machinery, noise, and other industrial conditions.
