
Program Director - Special Treatment Program

Position Summary
The Program Director – Special Treatment Program (STP) is responsible for theoversight, development, and daily operations of the facility’s behavioral health program within a skilled nursing setting.
This role ensuresregulatory compliance (CDPH), clinical quality, interdisciplinary coordination, and staff leadership while promoting a therapeutic, safe, and least-restrictive environment for residents with behavioral and psychiatric needs.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Operations
- Direct and oversee all aspects of the STP program, including daily operations and long-term planning
- Ensure compliance with California Department of Public Health (CDPH) , federal regulations, and facility policies
- Monitor program performance, identify trends, and implement improvements
Clinical Oversight
- Review appropriateness of resident referrals and conduct/coordinate evaluations
- Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
- Monitor resident progress and outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
Staff Management & Development
- Supervise, train, and evaluate STP staff
- Provide coaching, performance management, and ongoing education
- Identify staffing needs and support recruitment and onboarding
Interdisciplinary Coordination
- Collaborate with nursing, rehab, social services, and medical staff
- Participate in care planning, discharge planning, and IDT meetings
- Serve as liaison between the program and external agencies
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Maintain adherence to HIPAA and all confidentiality standards
- Ensure proper reporting of incidents, abuse allegations, and regulatory concerns
- Promote infection control, safety practices, and risk management
Program Development
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and treatment protocols
- Analyze program effectiveness and resource utilization
- Expand services and improve outcomes through strategic planning
