Job Description

The Pamplin+ Project Director provides leadership and operational coordination for the project-based learning components of the Pamplin undergraduate cohort curriculum. The role supports the BUS 1004–4004 course series, which integrates cross-disciplinary team projects, experiential learning, and professional development throughout the student experience.

The Pamplin+ Project Director is a 12‑month annual position, reporting directly to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs. The Project Director develops and manages external partnerships that support student projects, particularly in BUS 3004 community‑based service projects and BUS 4004 corporate capstone projects. The Project Director ensures that projects align with course learning objectives, provide meaningful experiential learning opportunities, and strengthen connections between Pamplin students and industry partners.

In addition, the Project Director works closely with course faculty leads to review syllabi and assignments, support coordination across course sections, facilitate a semesterly student project showcase, and implement assessment of learning across the course series. The Project Director may also teach a section of any of the BUS courses.

Work Location & Flexibility

This position will be based in Virginia Tech’s Blacksburg Campus. To ensure comprehensive training and integration into our college culture, the position will be fully on‑site for the first six months. After this period, the role may shift to a hybrid schedule with up to one day of telework per week, subject to departmental needs. Some travel may be required.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business, higher education, or related field; or bachelor’s degree with significant relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience teaching project‑based courses; previous experience in multiple course section coordination or curriculum scaffolding; previous experience in business industry or consulting role working with clients.
