Head of Business Development

Strativ Group, WorkFromHome, CA, United States

  • $225k – $275k + bonus, equity & benefits
  • San Francisco, CA or Washington, DC

We’re a well‑funded, early‑stage autonomous systems company building next‑generation platforms for maritime and subsea operations. Our technology enables scalable, cost‑effective deployment of unmanned systems across complex environments, supporting critical missions in security, infrastructure protection, and environmental monitoring.

As we scale, we’re looking for a Head of Business Development to own go‑to‑market strategy across US and allied defense markets, driving early traction through pilots and converting them into long‑term contracts.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own and execute defense business development strategy across US and allied markets
  • Identify and pursue contract pathways including SBIRs, OTAs, BAAs, and other non‑traditional routes
  • Lead the full lifecycle of pilot programs—from initial engagement through to signed agreements
  • Build and maintain high‑trust relationships across end users, program offices, and strategic stakeholders
  • Translate technical capabilities into compelling solutions aligned to mission needs
  • Track defense budgets, priorities, and procurement trends to identify new opportunities
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, leadership, and advisors to shape proposals and product direction
  • Support compliance processes including ITAR/EAR and ensure strong pipeline reporting

You Should Have:

  • 6–12 years’ experience in defense business development, contracting, or related roles
  • Proven track record closing deals such as pilots, OTAs, or SBIR Phase II/III contracts
  • Strong understanding of DoD procurement processes and funding pathways
  • Experience working with or selling into organizations such as NAVSEA, ONR, USCG, SOCOM, or similar
  • Ability to operate autonomously and build BD functions from the ground up

Bonus:

  • Experience in maritime, autonomous systems, robotics, or defense technology
  • Existing network across defense program offices, end users, or government stakeholders
  • Familiarity with early‑stage or venture‑backed environments
  • Exposure to congressional, S&T, or strategic defense initiatives

Why Join Us:

  • Competitive salary, bonus, and meaningful equity
  • Opportunity to shape go‑to‑market strategy at an early‑stage company
  • Work on cutting‑edge autonomous systems with real‑world impact
  • Collaborate with a highly technical, mission‑driven team
  • High ownership role with direct influence on company growth
