Position Summary

The person hired for this role will lead recruitment efforts for research studies examining the impact of literacy-focused educational interventions. They will build and sustain strong relationships with district leaders, school administrators, and teachers in Virginia and across the United States, effectively "marketing" the literacy instructional interventions we are testing and ensuring alignment with district- and school-level needs to recruit and retain teacher participants. The person will also support teacher participants in implementing interventions through virtual or in-person professional development and coaching. They will work largely independently, with occasional Zoom check-ins, ensuring participant recruitment and implementation support processes are well-coordinated and responsive.

Responsibilities

  • Build and sustain strong relationships with district leaders, school administrators, and teachers across the United States to recruit participants for literacy intervention research studies.
  • Communicate thoughtfully (via flyers/marketing materials, phone calls, Zoom meetings) to district leaders, school administrators, and teachers about the literacy instructional interventions we are testing, ensuring alignment with district and school needs.
  • Support teacher participants in implementing literacy interventions by providing professional development and coaching and coordinating doctoral student research assistants to support implementation.
  • Track and report on recruitment and implementation support efforts.

Physical Demands

  • This is a primarily sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers.
  • The job may occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.

Salary Range

The anticipated hiring range is $100,000 - $105,000, commensurate with education and experience.

Position Type & Work Location

  • This is an exempt-level, benefited position.
  • This position has a term limit of one year; continued employment will depend on project need and funding.
  • This position is fully remote and may be performed outside of Charlottesville, VA, in alignment with UVA’s remote work guidelines, though it may require occasional travel to Charlottesville or research sites.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s Degree.
  • Experience: 7+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience recruiting teacher and student participants for research projects.
  • Experience establishing strong relationships with district and school leaders focused on literacy instruction.
  • Experience providing literacy coaching and literacy intervention implementation support.
  • Licensure/certifications: reading specialist degree/endorsement.
