Position Summary


The person hired for this role will lead recruitment efforts for research studies examining the impact of literacy-focused educational interventions. They will be able to build and sustain strong relationships with district leaders, school administrators, and teachers in Virginia and across the United States. They will be able to effectively "market" the literacy instructional interventions we are testing and ensure these interventions are aligned with district- and school-level needs in such a way that we are able to successfully recruit and retain teacher participants. The person hired for this role will also support teacher participants in their efforts to implement interventions as part of research studies (i.e., via virtual or in-person professional development and coaching). They will work largely independently (touching base with our larger team via Zoom meetings once or twice per week) and with a high degree of ownership to ensure participant recruitment and intervention implementation support processes are well-coordinated and responsive to the needs of both research teams and school partners.


Responsibilities



  • Build and sustain strong relationships with district leaders, school administrators, and teachers across the United States to successfully recruit participants for literacy intervention research studies

  • Thoughtfully communicate (via flyers/marketing materials, phone calls, and in Zoom meetings) to district leaders, school administrators, and teachers about the literacy instructional interventions we are testing and ensure these interventions are aligned with district- and school-level needs

  • Support teacher participants in their efforts to implement literacy interventions by providing professional development and coaching and coordinating doctoral student research assistants to support implementation

  • Track and report on recruitment and implementation support efforts


Minimum Qualifications



  • Education: Master\'s Degree

  • Experience: 7+ years of relevant experience


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience recruiting teacher and student participants for research projects

  • Experience establishing strong relationships with district and school leaders who focus on literacy instruction

  • Experience providing literacy coaching/literacy intervention implementation support

  • Licensure/certifications: Reading specialist degree/endorsement


Physical Demands


This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.


Salary Range


The anticipated hiring range is $100,000 - $105,000, commensurate with education and experience.


Position Type & Work Location



  • This is an exempt-level, benefited position. Learn more about UVA benefits.

  • This position has a term limit of one year, after which continued employment will depend on project need and funding.

  • This position is fully remote and may be performed outside of Charlottesville, VA, in alignment with UVA\'s remote work guidelines, although it may require occasional travel to Charlottesville or research sites (which may be in Virginia or in other states) to provide in-person training or coaching.
