Position Summary

The Executive Director, CASA, Commercial US & WW Forecasting TA Lead, is a senior leader who serves as a trusted, collaborative advisor to the Commercial and Finance leadership team (CLT & FLT). He/she provides strategic guidance and delivers a holistic, unbiased perspective on the portfolio through data‑driven insights to maximize commercial potential. The role is responsible for delivering robust, insight‑driven forecasts across short‑term (Year 1), mid‑term (Year 3), long‑term (Year 10), and business‑development horizons, shaping strategic decisions for the therapeutic area by integrating market insights, actual performance, and advanced analytics into comprehensive forecasts.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Partnership & Leadership

  • Lead the end‑to‑end forecasting process for the therapeutic area, delivering high‑quality forecasts for Year 1, 3, 10, and BD scenarios.
  • Establish and outline defendable and logical revenue expectations, maintain full transparency around business risks and opportunities, and identify actionable levers to unlock commercial potential.
  • Translate complex business questions into clear, actionable forecasting roadmaps aligned with enterprise and brand strategies.
  • Consistently decompose performance and seamlessly integrate forecasting, chart audit, competitive intelligence, and market research insights enabling actionable scenario planning for potential outcomes.
  • Leverage disruptive and strategic thinking to engineer greater commercial success, enhance patient value, and enable matrix leaders across Commercial, Finance, MAx, Business Development, R&D and Investor Relations to drive maximum short, mid, and long‑term KPI goals.

Collaboration & Cross‑Functional Partnership

  • Facilitate alignment of assumptions to ensure a consistent, unified view of net sales.
  • Gather and integrate required forecasting inputs and assumptions from MAx, Brand and Finance (e.g., market events, rates, price assumptions).
  • Lead and operate the Integrated Net Sales (INS) forecasting model for their respective TA, ensuring all calculations (gross demand, GTN, inventory/pipeline, net sales) are executed consistently and accurately.
  • Partner with Finance to deliver quarterly, annual, and long‑term forecasts across key cycles (P1/P2/P3, Budget, LTFP) that provide timely and accurate signals to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Partner with brand leads and MAx to define forecasting scenarios, align on scenario assumptions and run sensitivity analyses.
  • Partner closely with Customer Engagement and Data teams within CASA to ensure forecasts reflect the latest market dynamics, customer perspectives, and performance trends.
  • Facilitate ongoing dialogue with commercial, medical, and finance stakeholders to align key assumptions and scenario planning.
  • Lead, collaborate, and effectively communicate with the team members across geographies.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for forecasting topics with broader enterprise partners, including Ex‑US markets, Supply/GPS, and Finance.
  • Foster a collaborative culture that values diverse perspectives and enterprise thinking.

AI & Capability Enhancement

  • Drive the enhancement of forecasting capabilities, championing AI and digital innovation in partnership with the Forecasting Transformation Lead and Business Insights & Technology.
  • Lead the adoption of advanced analytics, digital tools, and best practices to continuously improve forecast accuracy and efficiency.
  • Serve as a bridge between business needs and technical solutions, ensuring AI initiatives are fit‑for‑purpose and impactful.

Team Development & Change Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing forecasting team, promoting innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Model BMS’s core values and leadership attributes, including integrity, inclusion, and urgency.
  • Champion change management and new ways of working across the forecasting and broader commercial organization.
  • Foster a culture of diversity and inclusion, develop robust career paths in forecasting, insights, and analytics, and ensure technical capability and subject matter expertise across all levels, functions, and geographies.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience in forecasting, analytics, or related fields within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare industry.
  • Proven expertise in short, mid, and long‑term forecasting, including business‑development evaluations.
  • Proficient in using and integrating statistical tools and Monte‑Carlo simulations.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to interpret complex data.
  • Subject‑matter expertise in pharma industry business, associated datasets and their application in forecasting (claims, volume, sales, payers, accounts, etc.).
  • Identify opportunities to standardize processes, automate manual steps, and improve data quality in partnership with BI&T.
  • Ability to select and apply appropriate analytical or modeling approaches to improve forecast accuracy.
  • Familiarity with integrated net sales forecasting components (gross demand, GTN, pipeline/inventory).
  • Familiarity with the therapeutic area and brand dynamics to contextualize forecast signals and drivers.
  • Experience working cross‑functionally across commercial matrix (e.g., Brand, MAx, Finance).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey insights and implications to diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success in cross‑functional collaboration, especially with customer engagement and data teams.
  • Strong track record of driving AI and digital innovation in forecasting.
  • Exceptional leadership, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Proven success influencing senior leaders and partnering with business unit heads to shape commercial strategy.
  • Strong leadership experience managing large, cross‑functional or matrixed teams, including BU‑specific resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex strategic initiatives and drive organizational change.

Compensation Overview

$273,870 – $331,866. The starting compensation range is for a full‑time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.

  • Additional time off (if eligible): unlimited paid sick time, up to 2 paid volunteer days per year, summer hours flexibility, leaves of absence for medical, personal, parental, caregiver, bereavement, and military needs, and an annual global shutdown between Christmas and New Years Day.
