The Executive Director (ED) oversees the daily operations and strategic growth of the Burbank Arts & Education Foundation. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED balances long-term strategic vision with practical, tactical execution. This role requires a dynamic leader capable of fostering community partnerships and managing a small, dedicated team to advance the Foundation’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Growth: Partner with the Board and Development Committee to set and achieve annual fundraising goals.
- Donor Stewardship: Cultivate and maintain a diverse donor pipeline, including individuals, corporations, and private foundations.
- Corporate Partnerships: Act as the primary liaison for corporate sponsors, fostering reciprocal relationships and "cause marketing" opportunities.
- Board Engagement: Guide and empower Board members to actively participate in development and solicitation efforts.
- Event Oversight: Supervise the planning and execution of special events in collaboration with Event Chairs and the Board.
- Data Analysis: Monitor fundraising metrics and produce an annual Impact Report to communicate value to stakeholders.
Operations & Financial Management
- Organizational Leadership: Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring alignment with Board expectations and the Foundation's strategic plan.
- Financial Oversight: In coordination with the Treasurer and Bookkeeper, develop the annual budget, monitor monthly cash flow, and ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Personnel Management: Oversee staff; conduct annual performance reviews with Board input.
- Compliance: In collaboration with the Governance committee, ensure all activities adhere to organizational bylaws, internal policies, and local, state, and federal regulations.
- Board Support: Oversee preparation for Executive Committee and Board of Directors Meetings, including meeting schedules and locations, development of agenda, and meeting materials.
Community Engagement & Marketing
- Public Representation: In collaboration with the Chair and Vice Chair, serve as the Foundation’s primary spokesperson, maintaining high-level relationships with the Burbank Unified School District, the City of Burbank, local nonprofit partners, corporate and business sponsors, donors, and other organizations affecting the Foundation.
- Marketing & Communications: Collaborate with the Marketing Committee to oversee the website, social media, and collateral, ensuring all messaging is accurate and mission-aligned.
- Volunteer Cultivation: Engage community members to build a robust volunteer base and identify potential future committee and Board members.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Proven track record in non-profit fundraising (preferred) and an understanding of California public school funding.
- Leadership: A strategic thinker who is flexible, results-oriented, and excels in a collaborative environment.
- Communication: Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to represent the Foundation professionally.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Google Workspace/Microsoft Office; experience with donor management software (e.g., GiveButter) is preferred.
- Integrity: Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Education: College degree or equivalent, lived experience.
Compensation and Benefits
- This is a non-exempt, hourly, part-time position, 20-25 hours per week.
- Flexible schedule with a hybrid work environment.
- Hourly range is $35 - $38commensurate with experience.
