Role Overview

The Assistant Vice President (AVP), Strategic Partnerships & Business Development holds a leadership role responsible for driving organizational growth through the development, execution, and management of strategic partnerships and business initiatives. The AVP works closely with executive leadership to identify expansion opportunities, strengthen external relationships, and support long‑term growth strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute business development strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Identify and evaluate new growth opportunities, including partnerships, service line expansion, and market entry initiatives.
  • Lead negotiations and execution of strategic partnerships, affiliations, and joint ventures.
  • Drive initiatives that expand patient access, referral networks, and revenue streams.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare providers, health systems, community organizations, and external stakeholders.
  • Serve as primary liaison for key strategic partners; evaluate partnership performance and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to deepen and expand existing partnerships.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Develop business cases and financial models to support new initiatives.
  • Monitor industry trends, including value‑based care, population health, and healthcare innovation.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with clinical, operations, finance, and marketing teams to implement new initiatives.
  • Oversee project management of strategic initiatives from concept through execution.
  • Ensure timely delivery of projects, meeting defined KPIs and ROI targets.
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to growth, partnerships, and revenue.
  • Partner with finance leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
  • Analyze performance data to inform strategic decision‑making.
  • Lead and develop business development and partnerships team; foster a high‑performance, collaborative, and results‑driven culture.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, MPH, or related field) preferred.

Experience

  • 8‑12+ years of progressive experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or healthcare strategy.
  • Proven track record of driving growth and developing successful partnerships.
  • Experience in healthcare, population health, or multi‑site provider organizations strongly preferred.
  • Experience leading cross‑functional initiatives and managing complex projects.

Skills & Competencies

  • Financial acumen with experience building business cases and analyzing ROI.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive organizational alignment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in value‑based care, ACOs, or managed care partnerships.
  • Familiarity with healthcare ecosystems, including payers, providers, and community organizations.
  • Experience working in high‑growth or transformation environments.
