
Workday HCM Solutions Architect

Responsibilities
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a strategic advisor to our People & Culture, IT, and Finance leaders, translating complex business needs into scalable, maintainable solutions leveraging Workday and other related technologies.
- Partner with stakeholders to define problem statements, assess business impact, and ensure alignment between technology investments and business priorities.
- Solution Design
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to gather requirements; analyze workflows and data needs; identify opportunities for people, process, and technology improvements; and, prioritize and refine requested improvements.
- Evaluate and shape new project and product requests for strategic fit, technical feasibility, and alignment with enterprise system architecture.
- Provide architectural leadership on build vs. buy decisions, managing technical debt, scalability, and performance trade-offs.
- Act as a thought partner to senior leadership and a mentor to HRIS and business analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and architectural excellence.
- System Configuration & Process Optimization
- Define, develop and oversee the application of scalable configuration standards and architectural frameworks that drive automation, efficiency, and long‑term sustainability.
- Ensure system and data integrity through expert‑level configuration of security, business processes, calculated fields, condition rules, and validations.
- Design and optimize data flows and process integrations between Workday and internal systems, ensuring data accuracy and process efficiency.
- Lead the technical implementation of Workday modules - including HCM, Learning, Absence, Compensation, Performance, Time Tracking, Analytics - and other integrated systems.
- Configure and customize Workday functionality based on business needs and best practices.
- Design and develop Workday integrations using EIBs, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, and Workday Studio while also extending functionalities. Develop and execute test plans to ensure system integrity and data accuracy.
- Lead Development, Support, and Continual Improvement
- Oversee planning and execution of major Workday releases, including feature adoption strategy, regression testing, and stakeholder impact analysis.
- Lead ongoing assessment of Workday platform health and user experience metrics to inform continuous improvement and maximize business value.
- Lead internal and external team members in development and support activities, as well as participating hands‑on in the ongoing development, support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Workday configurations and integrations.
- Own end‑to‑end lifecycle management of Workday documentation, version control, and change processes across all modules and integrations.
- Governance, Security, Privacy, & Compliance
- Implement and manage security protocols to protect sensitive employee information.
- Ensure the HRIS complies with data privacy regulations and policies, in collaboration with the organization's IT and legal teams.
- Ensure Workday architecture, configurations, and change management processes are prepared to meet SOX compliance and audit standards, partnering closely with internal audit, InfoSec, and compliance teams.
- Enable secure and compliant innovation by champion governance practices that balance flexibility with control across the Workday ecosystem.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
- 7 years of HRIS experience, specialized in HCM and reporting in a technical capacity.
- 5 years of experience with Workday configuration and implementation, including building integrations using Studio, Core Connectors, and web services.
- Experience as a team lead managing a small team of internal or external resources.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands‑on experience implementing and supporting Workday HCM, LMS, and Security Management plus more than one of the following modules: Payroll, Talent Management, Time Tracking, Benefits, etc.
- Experience as a solution architect, or equivalent, on at least one full life‑cycle implementation of Workday HCM.
- Certifications in Workday HCM and Workday Integration.
- Proficiency in Workday integration tools such as EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, and Workday Studio.
- Reporting skills to be able to build custom reports in native Workday and People Analytics modules.
- Experience in building integrations with HCM‑related applications such as ICIMS, ADP, Concur, Paylocity, Fidelity, Crescent, and other health benefits applications.
- Experience in maintaining integrations with IT related applications such as Snowflake, Tableau, NetSuite, Salesforce, Adobe Workfront, and Okta.
Salary and Benefits
Medallia is committed to equal pay and transparency. The annual base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $190,000. Please note that the salary range information provided is a general guideline and combines all of the distinct labor markets within the US. It is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors. Medallia considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, candidate's work location, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, external market data, as well as, market and business considerations when making compensation decisions.
