
Director, Enterprise Engagement

The Director, Enterprise Engagement is a senior IT leader responsible for building strong, trusted partnerships between IT and Trinity’s programs and business areas, ensuring technology investments are clearly aligned to mission priorities and deliver meaningful outcomes.
Reporting to the CIO, this role serves as a strategic advisor and partner to the organization, translating program & business needs into well‑defined, prioritized, and achievable technology initiatives while fostering ongoing alignment, trust, and shared accountability.
In addition to leading enterprise engagement, the Director oversees Trinity’s project portfolio management and governance model, ensuring initiatives are consistently defined, thoughtfully prioritized, and delivered through practical, disciplined, and transparent processes. This role connects technology investments to organizational strategy, balancing relationship‑driven engagement with strong portfolio oversight and delivery rigor.
The annual salary range for this position is $194,300 to $217,000.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Enterprise Engagement & Strategic Partnership
- Collaborate closely with the CIO as a shared strategic partner between IT and Trinity’s programs and business areas, fostering trust through ongoing engagement, listening, and reliable execution
- Develop a deep understanding of stakeholder goals, challenges, and mission priorities, translating them into clear, actionable technology initiatives
- Establish and lead a structured enterprise engagement model that ensures early involvement, continuous alignment, and shared ownership of outcomes
- Own the end‑to‑end demand lifecycle, including intake, shaping, prioritization, and alignment to enterprise strategy
- Proactively identify opportunities where technology can enhance ministry impact, operational effectiveness, and community reach
- Strengthen and scale existing stakeholder relationships across IT, ensuring trusted connections built by IT staff are preserved and actively leveraged
- Balance centralized engagement leadership with distributed relationship ownership across IT, creating a cohesive and coordinated stakeholder experience
- Build authentic relationships across all levels of the organization, positioning IT as a trusted and valued partner
- Lead with active listening, empathy, and curiosity, ensuring stakeholders feel heard and meaningfully involved
- Facilitate transparent conversations that align expectations, priorities, constraints, and tradeoffs
- Anticipate organizational needs through ongoing dialogue, reducing reactive demand and improving planning
- Reinforce a culture of shared accountability between IT and business partners for outcomes and success
Stakeholder Value & Outcome Realization
- Establish formal engagement and feedback mechanisms such as quarterly business reviews and stakeholder forums
- Ensure stakeholder insights directly inform prioritization, investment decisions, and continuous improvement
- Define and monitor value realization measures, ensuring initiatives deliver measurable mission and operational impact
- Communicate progress and outcomes in business- and mission-aligned terms, not technical outputs
- Lead post‑implementation reviews focused on adoption, outcomes, and lessons learned
- Lead and mature Trinity’s Project Portfolio Management (PPM) and PMO function, emphasizing consistency, transparency, and alignment
- Establish and govern enterprise processes covering demand intake and prioritization, portfolio and investment management, resource and financial planning, risk oversight, and executive reporting
- Ensure project management practices are simple, effective, and fit for purpose, enabling structure without unnecessary bureaucracy
- Connect technology initiatives directly to organizational strategy through clear governance and prioritization mechanisms
- Provide leadership with clear visibility into portfolio health, delivery confidence, risks, and value
Delivery Oversight & Enablement
- Provide senior oversight for complex, cross-functional, and high‑visibility initiatives
- Serve as an escalation point to remove barriers and maintain momentum
- Ensure initiatives are well‑defined, appropriately resourced, and delivered with clear outcomes
- Drive continuous improvement in delivery practices, tools, and performance measurement
- Partner closely with the CIO and IT leadership to align engagement, portfolio, and delivery practices with the IT roadmap and operating model
- Foster a culture of collaboration, trust, accountability, and continuous learning across IT and the broader organization
- Adhere to the highest standard of confidentiality and all other Trinity policies, procedures, and rules
- Perform all duties in a manner that promotes Trinity’s mission and Ways of Being
- Assume other related responsibilities and special projects as required
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Activities:
- Distinctive blend of business, IT, financial and communication skills, because this is a highly visible position with substantial impact
- Knowledge of project management methodology and experience or familiarity with major, defined program management approaches.
- Knowledge of project planning/scheduling tools, with a solid track record of practical application.
- Effective influencing and negotiating skills in an environment in which this role may not directly control resources
- Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence
- Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user‑friendly language.
- Good analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Highly self‑motivated and directed.
- Experience working in a team‑oriented, collaborative environment.

Required and Preferred Education, Experience, and Credentials:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field or equivalent professional experience
- 7-10 years of progressive experience in IT leadership, enterprise engagement, or delivery roles
- Demonstrated experience leading or contributing to portfolio, PMO, or enterprise delivery functions
- Proven ability to build strong partnerships across business and technology teams
- Experience delivering initiatives with measurable organizational or mission impact
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP) required; additional certifications (PgMP, SAFe, ITIL) a plus
