Overview

A 130-year-old, American-owned OEM and a recognized brand in the metal fabrication equipment market — approximately 400 employees, build-to-order manufacturing, and a reputation built on precision and longevity. This Director of New Machine Sales role is the top commercial leadership seat for North American new machine revenue, with additional responsibility across Canada and Mexico. It is a high-visibility, high-accountability position reporting directly to the VP of Commercial Business.

Responsibilities

  • Own and execute North American new machine sales strategy targeting key verticals including sheet metal fabrication, automotive, and aerospace
  • Lead and develop a team of Regional Sales Managers and Sales Engineers — with a build mandate to add Sales Manager layers and scale the organization
  • Establish, track, and drive KPIs across funnel size, close rate, sales velocity, and productivity
  • Manage complex, long-cycle capital equipment sales from lead generation through proposal, negotiation, and post-sale coordination
  • Build and maintain strategic customer relationships and manage key account activity at the executive level
  • Partner with subsidiaries and channel partners to extend market reach and hit revenue targets
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Product Development, and Marketing to align offerings with customer and market needs
  • Oversee order entry and production forecast coordination to ensure manufacturing alignment
  • Drive pricing strategy, margin targets, and contract terms in alignment with company objectives
  • Represent the company at trade shows, technical conferences, and industry associations — travel up to 50% annually

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of capital goods sales and sales management experience — industrial OEM or heavy equipment background strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated P&L ownership or close operational proximity to revenue accountability
  • Proven track record building and scaling sales teams in a capital equipment environment
  • Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles with long lead times
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking — comfortable with funnel metrics, forecasting, and competitive market analysis
  • Familiarity with lean practices and commitment to continuous improvement
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field required; MBA preferred
  • U.S. work authorization required — no sponsorship available
  • Ability to travel 25–50% annually including domestic and occasional international travel

Benefits

This is the commercial leadership seat at one of the most respected names in American capital equipment manufacturing — a company with 130 years of market presence, zero private equity interference, and a genuine mandate to build. Total compensation exceeds $240K for a performer, backed by a 401(k) structure with Day 1 matching and no vesting schedule.
