Job Description
The Director of Finance will lead all core accounting and financial reporting functions for a complex, revenue‑generating organization. This role is responsible for overseeing general ledger accounting, month‑end and year‑end close processes, account reconciliations, and the preparation of GAAP‑compliant financial statements. The Director of Finance will deliver timely and insightful profit and loss (P&L) reporting and financial analysis to senior leadership to support informed decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all core accounting operations, including general ledger oversight, month‑end and year‑end close activities, account reconciliations, and preparation of GAAP‑compliant financial statements.
- Prepare, analyze, and present P&L statements and overall financial performance to senior leadership, providing clear insights to support strategic decision‑making.
- Oversee financial and tax reporting, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and timely submission of all required filings.
- Manage Work in Progress (WIP) accounting in a project‑based environment, ensuring appropriate revenue recognition and accurate cost tracking.
- Supervise, coach, and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering accountability, professional development, and high performance.
- Monitor and optimize cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to support daily operations and long‑term growth objectives.
- Collaborate closely with leadership and operational teams to enhance financial visibility, refine reporting processes, and support business planning initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts focused on strengthening internal controls, enhancing financial systems, and improving the efficiency and accuracy of reporting processes.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning and analysis activities to inform resource allocation and organizational strategy.
- Utilize financial analysis and data‑driven insights to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and communicate findings effectively to key stakeholders.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including direct responsibility for general ledger management, reconciliations, and month‑end and year‑end close.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and their application within a complex, revenue‑driven organization.
- Proven experience in financial reporting, including preparation and review of financial statements and P&L reporting.
- Strong financial analysis capabilities, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and develop actionable recommendations.
- Demonstrated experience with tax reporting and ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
- Hands‑on experience managing Work in Progress (WIP) accounting in a project‑based operating environment.
- Track record of effectively presenting financial results and performance insights to senior leadership or executive teams.
- Prior people management experience leading and developing two or more accounting professionals.
- Strong background in cash flow management, liquidity planning, and working capital optimization.
- Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning and analysis (FP&A).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross‑functionally with leadership and operational teams.
- Experience driving accounting system enhancements, process improvements, and internal control initiatives.
- High level of attention to detail combined with the ability to maintain a broader, strategic financial perspective.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts clearly and concisely.
- Proactive, growth‑oriented mindset with an interest in expanding responsibilities as the organization continues to grow.

Job Type & Location
Permanent position based out of Oxford, CT.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $150,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year. Comprehensive benefits are available to support employee well‑being, stability, and long‑term growth.
