- Demonstrated leadership and team‑management abilities.
- Other Requirements:
- Ability to travel frequently within North Carolina and to out‑of‑state locations as needed.

Primary Purpose of Organization Unit
The Office of Admissions fulfills the obligations of UNCP’s strategic recruitment plan, and supports enrollment growth by driving and meeting key metrics associated with the new student enrollment funnel, building brand awareness and helping prospective students find the value in a UNCP education leading them to choose and enroll at UNCP.
Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of this position is to support the growth of transfer student enrollment by leading the strategic efforts tied to transfer support: developing and implementing prospective transfer events, pipeline programming and partnerships, advising on time to degree, and leading and supporting a unit focused on transfer recruitment and enrollment coaching.
Job Description
The Associate Director of Transfer Student Recruitment at UNC Pembroke is responsible for leading and managing recruitment strategies specifically targeted toward in‑state and out‑of‑state transfer students. There is also a focus on special populations such as military students and contemporary adult learners. This role requires a strategic, data‑driven approach to enhance and expand transfer recruitment efforts across the 58 North Carolina Community Colleges and beyond.
Strategic Planning & Data Analysis (20%)
- Develop and implement comprehensive recruitment strategies for in‑state and out‑of‑state transfer students, using data analysis and trend evaluation to inform decision‑making and ensure alignment with institutional goals.
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of recruitment initiatives, prepare reports, and recommend improvements based on findings.
- Work closely with senior enrollment leadership to ensure strategies support broader admissions priorities and reflect best practices in transfer recruitment.
Recruitment and Relationship Management (30%)
- Lead recruitment efforts across North Carolina community colleges by building and sustaining strong partnerships with advisors, faculty, and administrators.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with community colleges and military organizations to support enrollment growth.
- Design and execute targeted engagement plans for special populations, including military‑affiliated students and their families.
- Partner with academic departments, student services, and military and veteran support offices to provide a seamless and supportive transfer experience.
- Facilitate cross‑campus coordination to ensure prospective and incoming transfer students receive accurate guidance, timely support, and a clear pathway to enrollment and success.
Events & Recruitment Programming (30%)
- Develop and implement a comprehensive annual plan for transfer recruitment events, including campus visits, transfer fairs, and community outreach initiatives.
- Create and maintain informational materials tailored specifically to transfer students for use by institutional representatives at recruitment programs and events.
Staff Leadership & Supervision (10%)
- Supervise and mentor recruitment staff focused on transfer initiatives by providing guidance, training, professional development, and performance evaluations.
- Foster a collaborative, results‑oriented team environment that supports staff success and advances institutional enrollment goals.
Operations, Technology & Transcript Processing (10%)
- Oversee operational processes that support transfer enrollment, including managing transcript evaluation in partnership with the Registrar’s Office.
- Utilize technology to provide transfer pre‑evaluations and expand access to advising tools such as Degree Works for prospective students and advisors.
- Identify and implement technological solutions that improve efficiency, transparency, and service delivery throughout the transfer admissions process.
This position is Mandatory Personnel. Mandatory employees are employees whose presence has been determined to be mandatory to University operations during adverse weather or emergency events.
Management Preference
- Education: Master’s degree in related field preferred.
- Experience: Experience working with one or more student populations such as a first‑time freshman, transfer students, graduate students, adult learners, online students, military‑affiliated students, or other specialized student groups; transfer students a plus.
