In partnership with Lindauer, Cleveland State University is seeking a strategic and entrepreneurial Vice President, Advancement and Executive Director of the CSU Foundation (VP/ED) . This is a dual leadership role at a dynamic urban institution committed to social mobility, innovation, and community impact.

Overview

The VP/ED will design and execute a comprehensive advancement strategy to elevate Cleveland State’s fundraising and alumni engagement efforts. Serving as both a Cabinet-level advisor and the Executive Director of the CSU Foundation, the VP/ED will align philanthropic goals with institutional priorities and steward the University’s endowment to secure long-term success.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a visionary advancement strategy for Cleveland State.
• Lead the Division of University Advancement, including Alumni Relations.
• Partner with President Laura Bloomberg and senior leaders on strategic fundraising initiatives.
• Serve as Executive Director of the CSU Foundation, stewarding gifts and endowments.
• Engage alumni, donors, and community stakeholders to broaden Cleveland State’s philanthropic base.

Qualifications

• At least seven years of senior-level leadership experience in advancement or development within a large university or comparable organization.
• Proven record of success in major gift solicitation and building relationships with foundation boards.
• Strong strategic planning, communication, and supervisory skills with the ability to lead diverse teams and engage a wide range of constituencies.
• Deep knowledge of trends and strategic issues affecting university advancement, with experience in public higher education strongly preferred.
