General Sales Manager Job Opening in Charlotte, NC

We are seeking an experienced General Sales Manager to support a private homebuilder operating across multiple divisions. Reporting directly to the Division President, this role will oversee sales and marketing execution across assigned communities and play a key role in driving performance, brand consistency, and customer experience.

The General Sales Manager will lead day‑to‑day sales and marketing initiatives and work closely with on‑site sales teams, designers, and leadership. The ideal candidate is a self‑starter with proven experience in residential homebuilding sales, comfortable balancing leadership responsibilities with hands‑on execution. Compensation, benefits, and long‑term growth opportunities are strong.

Candidates located in either Charlotte or Philadelphia with experience at a high‑volume homebuilder are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a high‑performing culture while directing all activities and supporting the performance of the sales team.
  • Set individual sales goals and targets with the sales team.
  • Develop your sales team through motivation, counseling, and product knowledge education.
  • Ensure all deadlines and conditions described on contracts are met (e.g., deposits and special pricing requests).
  • Ensure that the sales team fully understands and complies with company contracts.
  • Analyze potential risks involved with specific contract terms.
  • Effectively resolve customer complaints.
  • Produce and manage monthly competitive market summaries with the sales team.
  • Lead the model home opening process and coordinate the merchandising of all model homes with the designers.
  • Develop and maintain all social media outlets.
  • Manage and oversee the production of all print materials and publications to ensure alignment with the brand.
  • Plan and coordinate all special events in coordination with the sales team.
  • Manage and oversee the current marketing materials for each community, including color renderings, signage, flags, etc.
  • Manage and oversee community entrances, amenities, and open spaces – maintaining the ‘sense of arrival’ in all communities.
  • Create, develop, and adhere to a company advertising plan.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of real estate marketing and sales experience.
  • Experience in branding and print/web advertising.
  • Knowledge of residential home construction, real estate, and marketing.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with internal and external staff.
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of social media and website management.
  • Ability to create and execute budget plans.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proven ability to deal with customers and to negotiate appropriate outcomes.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self‑starter with strong organization skills.
