Overview

The Director of People & Culture serves as a strategic & hands-on leader responsible for shaping, implementing, & sustaining human resources policies, programs, & practices that support The Westmoor Club's mission, culture, & seasonal workforce. This role oversees all aspects of employee relations, staffing & recruitment, organizational development, training, performance management, payroll, benefits administration, compliance, & on-campus employee housing. The Director of People & Culture partners closely with department heads to foster an employee-centered culture emphasizing engagement, accountability, Teamwork, & High Performance .

Responsibilities

  • People & Culture Champion & cultivate an employee-oriented culture that emphasizes quality service, continuous improvement, teamwork, recognition, & accountability. Implement & maintain HR policies, programs, & practices in compliance with federal & state employment laws & regulations.
  • Establish, maintain, & continuously improve the employee orientation & onboarding program in partnership with the General Manager.
  • Design & deliver annual manager training focused on Club culture, employee engagement, recognition, coaching, performance management, & accountability.
  • Lead recruitment & retention efforts for all departments, including sourcing, screening, & conducting initial interviews.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for employee relations, providing guidance, support, & conflict resolution related to workplace concerns, performance issues, & policy interpretation.
  • Maintain personnel files & ensure all HR documentation is accurate, complete, & compliant.
  • Maintain & update the Employee Handbook in accordance with legal changes & internal policy updates.
  • Provide clear, timely, & consistent company-wide communications related to employee matters & HR initiatives, including publishing an employee newsletter.
  • Ensure all job descriptions are accurate, current, & compliant with Club standards.
  • Payroll, Benefits, & Compliance Process: oversee weekly payroll to ensure accuracy, timeliness, & compliance with wage & hour laws. Manage onboarding & offboarding processes, including completion & tracking of all required paperwork (I-9s, background checks, OSHA training, etc.). Setup & termination of employees in payroll & HR systems. Maintain of employee arrival/departure calendars & master employee lists. Administer compensation programs & employee benefit plans, including eligibility, enrollment, & coordination with benefit brokers & vendors. Maintain employee benefit records, including additions, changes, & terminations. Ensure ACA compliance in coordination with the payroll provider. Maintain OSHA logs, file required year-end reports, & coordinate with Workers' Compensation carriers as needed. Process unemployment claims accurately & in a timely manner. File requests for Seasonal Overtime Exemption with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Partner with the Club's immigration/employer agent to facilitate H-2B & J-1 visa filings with the U.S. Department of Labor & related agencies.
  • Employee Housing: Manage on-campus employee housing assignments, arrivals, & departures.
  • Employee Engagement & Culture: Support & promote the Club's mission & culture, ensuring professional & respectful behavior at all times. Maintain required & engaging postings in employee dining & common areas.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive human resources management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with Compensation Planning, Benefits Administration, & Vendor Management .
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law, including EEOC, FMLA, ADA, & wage & hour regulations.
  • Experience with seasonal workforces.
  • Preferred: H-2B &/or J-1 Visa Experience. Familiarity With onboarding & compliance requirements, including I-9 documentation.
  • Payroll experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
