DIRECTOR OF PROGRAM OPERATIONS
Position number: . Department: Chicago Department of Public Health, Bureau of Behavioral Health, Injury Prevention Division.
Location: 1920 S. Western Ave. Days/Hours: Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. This position is exempt from the Career Service Act.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directs the strategic planning and implementation of the Injury Prevention division of the Behavioral Health Bureau, including the violence prevention and substance use portfolio.
- Oversees four or more managers responsible for injury prevention programs in the CDPH Bureau of Behavioral Health, setting program goals and priorities, delivering services, and monitoring progress.
- Monitors the performance and ongoing development/training of BH Injury Prevention staff, providing direct one‑on‑one supervision, performance evaluation, and professional development opportunities.
- Develops work objectives, quality standards, and key performance indicators for Injury Prevention, working with program supervisors to monitor productivity and adherence to established standards.
- Directs the development and management of 75+ delegate agency contracts, budgets, grants, and administrative functions, including RFP publication, review, and evaluation; selection of partners; initiation of contracts; drafting scopes of service; and monitoring program implementation, data submission, and public health outcomes.
- Serves as a liaison between CDPH and other City departments, outside agencies, and the general public.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Business or Public Administration, Public Health, or a related field plus seven (7) years of experience in planning, implementation or administration of social service, public health or public service programs, five (5) of which in a management/supervisory role.
• OR Master’s degree or higher in the same or related fields plus six (6) years of experience in planning, implementation or administration of social service, public health or public service programs, five (5) of which in a management/supervisory role.
