Park and Recreation - Seasonal Directors & Leaders

The City of Westfield is seeking applicants to fill several skilled seasonal positions for the Parks and Recreation Department’s 2026 spring/summer programs. Positions will be posted from February 9th to April 24th . All positions must have a Valid Certification in both CPR and First Aid attached to the job application to receive an interview . These positions are considered part-time seasonal, and employees receive no benefits. June 1 – Sept. 1.

Playground Director

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and hold a current CPR and First Aid Certificate.
  • The Director oversees the daily operation of the playground program at a designated city playground.
  • Duties include teaching and supervising children 6‑13 years of age in arts and crafts, games, sports, and special events.
  • Previous experience in a recreational setting or day camp leadership is required, with a minimum of 25 hours a week.

Playground Leader

  • Applicants must be 16 years of age or older and hold a current CPR and First Aid Certificate.
  • Duties include teaching and supervising children 6‑13 years of age in arts and crafts, games, sports, special events, and environmental education.
  • Experience working with children is preferred.
  • Minimum of 20‑25 hours a week.

Day Camp Director

  • Applicants must be 20 years of age or older and hold a current CPR and First Aid Certificate.
  • The Director oversees the daily operation of the day camp program.
  • Experience supervising staff and children in a recreational setting or previous day camp leadership is required.
  • Duties include teaching and supervising children 5‑12 years of age in arts and crafts, games, sports, special events, and environmental education.
  • Minimum of 35‑40 hours a week.

Day Camp Leader

  • Applicants must be 17 years of age or older and hold a current CPR and First Aid Certificate.
  • Duties include teaching and supervising children 5‑12 years of age in arts and crafts, games, sports, special events, and environmental education.
  • Experience working with children is preferred.
  • Minimum of 35‑40 hours a week.

As a condition of employment, all candidates must submit to CORI/SORI (a criminal background check) and complete the Conflict‑of‑Interest Law form.
