Supervisory Financial Management Specialist.

Duties The Supervisory Financial Management Specialist will develop financial policy directives, serve on the finance advisory team, interpret financial guidelines, establish schedules for financial reporting cycles, review and analyze accounting reports to identify trends and resolve complex financial problems, plan operations and system changes for the Unified Financial Management System (UFMS), and manage staff performing financial management functions supporting EOIR programs.

Develop financial policy directives and agency guidance to improve resource management.

Serve as a member of the finance advisory team and issue necessary instructions.

Interpret financial guidelines and create a master schedule for financial reporting cycles.

Review, analyze, and evaluate incoming accounting reports to track financial trends and resolve problems.

Plan operations, systems changes, and services for the Unified Financial Management System (UFMS).

Manage the work of staff engaged in financial management functions for EOIR programs and operations.

Requirements

United States citizen or national.

Pass a security/background investigation and a drug screening.

Current permanent Department of Justice employee with competitive status or eligible CTAP/RPL candidate.

Meet all applicable time-in-grade requirements by the closing of the announcement.

Financial disclosure may be required in accordance with DOJ and federal ethics guidelines.

Qualifications Time-in-Grade Requirements:

Merit promotion applicants must have at least one year at the GS-13 level. Eligibility must be demonstrated by a current SF-50. VEOA applicants are also required to have held a GS position in the past year.

For the GS-14 level, Specialized Experience:

One or more full-time years (12 months) of experience equivalent to at least GS-13 performing the following duties:

Providing direction, leadership, and supervision in developing, implementing, and updating policies, standards, and guidance for budget and financial management programs.

Planning workflow and work assignments for staff by setting and adjusting short-term priorities.

Developing performance standards and evaluating staff performance.

Managing the planning, evaluation, and review of an organization’s financial management systems.

You must meet all qualification requirements, including time-in-grade, by 04/27/2026.
