Role Description
This is a full-time on-site Real Estate Associate role located at the Firm's office in Culver City. The Real Estate Associate will be responsible for: drafting, reviewing, and negotiating loan documents, bond documents, purchase and sale agreements; drafting, maintaining and updating closing checklists and key dates charts; reviewing title and survey, preparing title objection letters and negotiating/bottoming out title issues with title/escrow, drafting opinion letters; liaising with local counsel, opinion counsel, co-counsel, opposing counsel; regularly interfacing with clients; and generally assisting with real estate transactions and providing legal counsel on commercial real estate matters.
The Firm advises a broad range of mainly nonprofit and for-profit developers in LA with their transactions mainly throughout California, but also in Montana, Hawaii, Washington, Michigan and Kentucky.

Qualifications 0-6 years experience in the real estate department of a law firm or in-house legal department, with the following knowledge:
Strong understanding of real estate concepts and property laws
Experience with multifamily real estate transactions
experience with financing transactions e.g. mortgage/acquisition loans, construction loans, refinancings, bridge loans etc.
Knowledge of real estate construction and development processes e.g. financing, draws, permitting, retainage etc
Strong legal research and analytical skills
Strong communication and negotiation skills
California State Bar membership
Experience or interest in affordable housing or other highly-regulated industry is a big plus.
