Position: Senior Underwriter (Operations)
Location: Fully Remote
Work Model: Remote (equipment provided)
Compensation: $85,000–$100,000 base salary annually
Schedule: 40 hours per week; overtime as needed Eastern Time Zone

Overview This Senior Underwriter role supports residential mortgage production by delivering consistent, compliant underwriting decisions across a range of borrower profiles. You’ll evaluate risk, document clear decisions and conditions, and partner closely with loan officers, processors, and internal stakeholders to move files efficiently while maintaining strong underwriting quality.
Responsibilities
Evaluate residential mortgage loan applications to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable federal and state regulations
Analyze borrower financials, credit reports, and property evaluations to determine feasibility and overall risk
Assess loan risk and make recommendations based on thorough analysis of borrower profiles
Collaborate with loan officers, processors, and other stakeholders to expedite the underwriting process and resolve questions quickly
Provide clear, concise explanations for loan decisions and conditions to all parties involved
Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to maintain high-quality underwriting standards
Qualifications
5+ years of residential mortgage underwriting experience (Frontline)
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain decisions and conditions
Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders in a deadline-driven environment
Proficiency in Encompass is highly preferred
Experience with Microsoft Office is a plus
