Job Description NBC News NOW is launching a new live two-hour show airing 10a–noon, and we’re looking for a
strong editorial leader
to help define its voice, pace, and ambition from day one.
We’re looking for a
Senior Producer
who thrives in live news, leads with clarity in the control room, and elevates every segment with sharp editorial judgment and strong production instincts. This is a hands‑on leadership role—guiding a team of Segment Producers, Associate Producers, and Production Assistants while partnering closely with the Executive Producer and Anchors to shape daily coverage.

What You’ll Do:
Partner with the Executive Producer and Anchors to shape the daily editorial vision and build smart, urgent rundowns
Lead the team through daily editorial meetings, refining pitches and identifying the strongest angles for coverage
Oversee and elevate scripts, intros, teases, and banners to ensure clarity, authority, and consistency
Guide Segment Producers from pitch to air, ensuring segments are visually strong and editorially sharp
Play a key leadership role in the control room during live broadcasts, especially during breaking news
Ensure all scripts, graphics, and video meet NBC News standards for accuracy, fairness, and tone
Collaborate with colleagues across NBC to leverage reporting, bureaus, and enterprise coverage
Fill in for Executive Producer as needed
Mentor and develop junior producers, fostering a culture of excellent journalism, dynamic producing, collaboration and accountability
Qualifications
6+ years of experience in broadcast, cable, or streaming news
At least 2+ years in a leadership role on a live daily news program
Demonstrated experience leading in or closely alongside a live control room
Excellent writing, editing, and copy‑editing skills
Strong editorial judgment and ability to make decisions quickly under pressure
Proven ability to manage multiple segments and priorities simultaneously
Confident, calm leader who communicates clearly and decisively
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
Must be willing and able to work in person Monday–Friday at 30 Rock
Desired Characteristics:
A journalist first, with deep knowledge of national and breaking news
Strong visual sensibility and commitment to elevated production values
Experience editing video in Avid and/or Premiere
Willing and able to mentor and grow junior members of the team
Collaborative and solutions‑oriented in a fast‑paced environment
A demonstrated commitment to building a long‑term career in journalism

This position is required to be performed full‑time from NBCUniversal’s 30 Rockefeller Plaza office in New York, NY, five days per week.

Salary range : $125,000 - $170,000
