
Interior Designer II

The Role
The Interior Designer II is a mid-level design professional responsible for contributing to the development of interior environments through all project phases — from concept design to construction administration. This role requires a balance of creativity, technical skills, and project coordination abilities. The designer works both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, under moderate supervision, while capable of mentoring junior staff.
Responsibilities
Participate in the conceptual and schematic design process, contributing creative ideas, space planning, and material selection.
Develop design presentations including mood boards, renderings, finish palettes, and graphic narratives.
Prepare detailed furniture layouts, finish plans, and interior elevations.
Assist in maintaining design intent throughout documentation and construction.
Produce accurate, coordinated, and detailed drawings using Revit or AutoCAD.
Prepare finish schedules, specifications, and product documentation.
Coordinate with architectural and engineering teams to ensure design integration.
Review and redline drawings for quality control and consistency.
Research and evaluate materials, furnishings, and lighting for performance, sustainability, and budget alignment.
Prepare and coordinate FF&E packages, including procurement documentation when applicable.
Understand building codes, ADA requirements, and relevant interior design standards.
Contribute to cost estimating and value‑engineering discussions.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation.
Maintain responsiveness to internal and external coordination.
Meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Improve project design quality and client satisfaction.
Engage in firm culture and mentor junior staff.
Qualifications (Required)
Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Interior Design.
5+ years of experience in interior design with a proven track record of successful project management.
Experience within commercial, hospitality, education, or other large design sectors.
Software proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
Strong understanding of space planning, construction detailing, materials, codes, and FF&E.
Photoshop (editing) and InDesign (presentations).
Preferred
Working toward NCIDQ Certificate.
LEED accreditation or similar sustainable design certification.
Experience with Enscape, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office; SketchUp and Bluebeam preferred but not required.
