Assistant Athletic Director (NSHS) – Ninety Six High School
Reports to: NSHS Athletic Director.
Position Purpose To provide each enrolled student an opportunity to participate in an extracurricular athletic activity that will foster physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, a knowledge and understanding of the pleasure of sport, the principles of play, and satisfaction of being part of a team.
Essential Functions
Assist in organizing and administering the overall program of extracurricular athletics.
Assist in providing leadership in the selection, assignment, and evaluation of athletic coaches and staff members.
Foster good school‑community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program.
Promote student athletes with post secondary educational institutions.
Assist student athletes with obtaining appropriate post secondary educational opportunities.
Assist in the organization and scheduling of all interscholastic athletic events.
Assist in scheduling officials, team physicians, and security, as required, and assume general responsibility for the proper supervision of home games.
Assist in arranging transportation for athletic contest participants.
Assist in the development of appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic activities.
Assist in verifying each athlete's eligibility according to established physical and academic requirements of eligibility for participation in each sport.
Assist in the preparation and administration of the athletic program budget.
Assist in ticket sales and fundraising events of the athletic program, and assume responsibility for proper handling of funds.
Assist with the needs of visiting teams, such as lodging, meals, towels, gymnasium services, and field assistance, as appropriate.
Assist with making arrangements for non‑school use of playing fields and facilities, within district guidelines.
Assist with creating field and gym practice schedules.
Assist with planning and administering an annual recognition program for school athletes.
Attend and represent the school at district and state meetings regarding athletics when needed.
Assist the administration in the implementation and supervision of the district's policies regarding student extracurricular participation.
Assist in the collection of data and reports on student extracurricular participation and the requirements of Title IX.
Help maintain physical facilities and communicate needs of the school's athletic program to school and district administration.
Additional Duties Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Principal, Superintendent, or other district office administrator designated by the superintendent.
Qualifications
Must hold a South Carolina teaching and/or administrative certification.
Preference will be given to individuals with national certification in Athletic/Sports Administration.
Valid driver's license with preference given to individuals with a Commercial Driver's License.
Experience A minimum of five years experience in coaching team sports, preferably at the high school level. At least five years of teaching experience is preferred.

Use strength to lift items needed to perform the job function.
Sit, stand, and walk for required periods of time.
Speak and hear.
Use close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception with the ability to focus vision.
Communicate effectively in English, using proper grammar and vocabulary. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
Reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers to handle objects and operate tools, technology equipment, computers, and/or controls.

Work effectively with and respond to diverse cultures or backgrounds.
Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior, speech, and dress in a neat, clean, and professional manner for the assignment and work setting.
Have regular and punctual attendance.

Equipment
Uses standard office and school building environments as well as athletic competition venues.
Physically fit and able to attend and actively engage with coaches, referees and athletes indoors and outdoors year‑round in the performance and effective management of the athletic program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of athletics, athletic programs, and physical fitness.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations regarding school district athletic programs, safety and health, and other areas under responsibility.
Ability to understand, apply, and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Microsoft and Google applications).
Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflict in time constraints.
Ability to engage in self‑evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and personal growth.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
