The
Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP)
plays a critical role in supporting employee relations and guiding leaders through complex people and compliance matters. This role serves as a trusted advisor to management, applying a strong compliance lens while helping mitigate risk through a clear understanding of employment law. As a collaborative member of the Human Resources team, the HRBP partners closely with operations and leadership to support our team members and the business. This is a
hybrid position , requiring in‑office presence
Tuesday through Thursday . Office is located in
Buffalo Grove, Illinois . Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations
Respond to, investigate, and resolve employee relations matters thoroughly and in a timely manner Manage a high volume of ER cases, prioritizing based on severity and organizational risk Identify patterns, trends, and potential areas of risk; elevate concerns as appropriate Provide guidance and training to leaders on conducting investigations, documentation standards, and escalation protocols Management Guidance & Compliance
Serve as a trusted advisor to managers on employee relations, progressive discipline, terminations, and policy interpretation Deliver guidance with a strong compliance focus across federal, state, and local employment laws Train leaders in best practices for employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance management Develop and deliver additional training as business needs evolve People Support
Act as a primary contact for people‑related inquiries across the organization Partner closely with operations to resolve issues or redirect inquiries appropriately Provide HRIS support in UKG and assist with payroll‑related questions in partnership with the Payroll team Manage accommodation requests in compliance with ADA and applicable state regulations Additional Responsibilities
Support business needs in a fast‑paced environment, including flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications & Experience
Required
4–6 years of progressive HR experience Significant experience handling complex employee relations cases and workplace investigations Proven experience documenting investigations and performance matters, ideally using case management systems Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws Hands‑on experience managing ADA accommodations and state‑level compliance requirements Experience supporting multi‑unit and multi‑state organizations, preferably in retail or restaurant environments Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams Skills & Attributes
Highly organized with strong attention to detail Able to prioritize competing demands in a fast‑paced environment while mitigating risk Clear, concise, and confident verbal and written communicator Approachable, collaborative, and solutions‑oriented Comfortable navigating sensitive situations with professionalism, empathy, and good judgment Why Join Us?
