
Claims Director (Multinational Claims)

Hyatt seeks an enthusiastic and well‑rounded Claims Director to join our Hyatt Risk’s Claims team. You will be responsible for overseeing tender claims and litigated insurance claims across the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Collaborate with Hyatt teams in risk, business and hotels in the field, managing a wide variety of premises liability claims. The Role
Partner with legal, risk, carriers, and defense counsel to manage litigated insurance in the U.S. and abroad.
Proactively assess and manage insurance coverage disputes, determining coverage applicability across primary, excess, owner‑placed policies, including DIC/DIL gap coverage.
Tender and monitor claims not covered by Hyatt’s insurance program.
Work across Hyatt Legal/Risk functions to support process improvement for insured matters and develop loss mitigation strategies.
Support evaluation and improvement of outside defense panel.
Assess litigation risk, advising on estimated costs, success possibilities, and settlement options.
Manage electronic discovery, including litigation holds, record management, and document preservation.
Provide business clients with guidance on litigation and disputes, pre‑litigation advice and counsel.
Develop and manage case budgets.
Manage and collaborate with outside counsel, carriers, defense counsel in all pre‑litigation and litigation aspects: strategy, pleadings, discovery, settlement negotiations, depositions, hearings, trials.
Travel domestically and internationally as appropriate for hearings, mediations, and trials.
Qualifications Experience Required:
5-6 years of experience in insurance claims, law firm or corporate law department, focusing on premises liability and/or insurance coverage disputes; hospitality industry experience a plus.
Curious, proactive mindset, ability to adapt, respond to setbacks.
Demonstrated track record of taking accountability.
Ability to think critically, make well‑reasoned decisions, strong verbal and written communication skills.

The salary range for this position is $142,500–$190,000. This position is also eligible for incentive awards and an annual bonus. The final pay rate will depend on experience, skill level, and other qualifications, as well as location of performance. Pay will meet local minimum wage requirements.
