Job Summary
WOWT in Omaha, NE, is seeking an experienced Meteorologist to join our First Alert Weather team. The Meteorologist will work closely with the Chief Meteorologists, news managers, and producers to cover comprehensive weather coverage on multiple platforms and during severe weather. The role requires a daily multi-platform content producer, serving audiences on streaming, social media, and TV. WOWT seeks a candidate who will make a positive contribution in the newsroom and community.
Responsibilities
Analyze weather data and prepare detailed forecasts
Prepare graphics to support the weather presentation
Provide a flexible schedule for severe weather and winter weather scenarios
Work closely with news management in designing presentation style and editorial content for weather presentations
Develop and report weather stories
Prepare material for delivery of newscasts
Post content to website, apps, and social media platforms
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in meteorology
Prior experience as a broadcast meteorologist
Strong on-air communication skills
Ability to work as part of an on-air team and a weather team
Knowledge of WSI Max and their various platforms is a plus
Ability to be creative with graphic design and presentation
Demonstrated ability to accurately forecast weather
Proficient in social media platforms
