Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Manager of Programs & Development, serve as the Marketing & Communications Specialist for the Center for 17th- & 18th-Century Studies and the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library. The Specialist will be a key player in promoting the Center and Clark’s research, programs, and events. Responsibilities include creating publicity campaigns for academic and public programming and events; producing content and distributing the Quarterly newsletter; advertising Clark fellowships; designing and producing publicity flyers and programs; maintaining content for the Center and Clark’s website; and managing social media. In collaboration with other senior staff, the Specialist will contribute to the development of a strategic communications plan and calendar that highlights Center and Clark programs, research, and achievements. The role involves collaborating with staff, librarians, faculty, fellows, and students to raise awareness through digital content creation, visual assets, and social media. Communications must adhere to UCLA brand guidelines and reflect a professional level of quality. The Specialist will track and report yearly on outreach reach and impact, and assist with audio‑visual needs for in‑person and livestreamed conferences and lectures as needed. The position is split between Royce Hall on the UCLA campus and the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library in West Adams, Los Angeles, with required availability on weekends and evenings to support academic and public program schedules.

Salary & Compensation

UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors such as budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure, certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications

1 year managing organizational social media accounts (Preferred)

1 year demonstrated ability to effectively use social media and write for public audiences (Preferred)

1 year experience with image editing and word processing software (Required)

Detailed knowledge of marketing principles, applied to email marketing, social media, and other platforms (Required)

Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision (Required)

Ability to compose, proofread, and edit business and publicity communications with attention to grammar, punctuation, voice, and spelling (Required)

Excellent organizational skills sufficient to prioritize tasks and adhere to a production calendar to meet deadlines (Required)

Ability to identify problems, develop alternative approaches, offer solutions, and follow through on all details (Required)

Working knowledge of promoting academic and cultural programs, including conferences, lectures, arts performances, and fellowship programs (Required)

Demonstrated skill in graphic design with practical knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and ability to learn new technologies promptly (Required)

Availability to work at two separate locations (on campus and off campus) and flexible hours that include evenings and weekends (Required)

Ability to use social media and write for public audiences (Required)

Excellent visual media and design skills, including graphic design (Required)

Ability to conceptualize communications strategically to promote organizational goals (Required)

Demonstrated ability to maintain website content using WordPress or other CMS tools (Required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

Bachelor’s Degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience or training (Required)
