Position Summary The Office of Public Affairs is seeking a part‑time Marketing Videographer and Photographer to join its Marketing and Brand Strategy team. This role reports to the Director of Digital Media Strategy and is responsible for leading the production of compelling, mission‑aligned video, multimedia, and photo content that enhances Rice’s brand visibility, promotes academic and research excellence, and supports major institutional initiatives across digital platforms. Job Description Ideal candidates have experience managing projects from concept through final delivery and a deep understanding of tailoring content for web, social, digital advertising and broadcast. Responsibilities include producing story concepts, planning photo shoots, managing post‑production workflows, and creating channel‑native formatting for YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn and other priority platforms. The role supports cross‑channel storytelling, works closely with marketing, media relations and events, and may also develop media‑ready assets. Employment Details On‑campus position. 25 hours per week (approximately 3 days a week). Term limit, part‑time, project‑based role with an expected duration of 3 months. Weekend and evening work required. Hiring range: $35–$40 per hour based on experience. Non‑Exempt (hourly) positions are eligible for overtime. Minimum Requirements Two or more years of professional experience in video production, multimedia storytelling or visual journalism. Skills Advanced knowledge of professional video production (camera operation, lighting, audio capture). Advanced knowledge of professional photography (portraits and events). Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Lightroom. Strong visual literacy with a keen eye for composition, pacing and storytelling. Creative narrative development aligned with institutional messaging. Ability to produce platform‑native content in varied formats (vertical, square, widescreen). Independent and team collaboration in a fast‑paced environment. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication. Excellent time‑management and capacity to juggle multiple projects under tight deadlines. Preferences Canva experience. Higher education background. Three or more years of professional experience in video production, multimedia storytelling or visual journalism. Essential Functions Support the Director of Digital Media Strategy on content plans and capture. Participate in the full video production process: pre‑production planning, scripting, filming, editing and post‑production delivery. Photography and photo image editing. Tailor and repurpose video content for specific platforms using best practices in visual storytelling. Produce short‑form and long‑form video content for campaigns, news media, social media, websites and digital marketing. Ensure brand consistency, accessibility and production quality across all content. Capture b‑roll, interviews and on‑location footage (events, labs, classrooms, campus environments). Support cross‑channel storytelling as part of integrated campaigns. Work collaboratively across Public Affairs and with campus partners to reflect Rice’s mission, values and visual identity.
