Senior Construction Estimator / Lead Estimator (Public Sector)

Job Description Job Description Key Responsibilities: Lead the full estimating process from initial review through bid submission Prepare detailed, accurate cost estimates for public and private projects Manage multiple bids simultaneously under tight deadlines Analyze drawings, specifications, and project requirements Perform and/or oversee quantity takeoffs for all trades (including MEP) Solicit, qualify, and level subcontractor and supplier bids Develop scopes of work and bid packages Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving strategies Maintain and expand subcontractor and vendor relationships Participate in post-bid interviews and negotiations Support project team during turnover and pre-construction phase Qualifications: 810 years experience in construction estimating (NYC required) Strong experience with public sector projects (SCA, DDC, DASNY, NYCHA, etc.) Proven track record of successfully winning bids Deep understanding of commercial and institutional construction Experience with lump sum, GMP, and negotiated work Strong knowledge of MEP systems and pricing Ability to lead and mentor junior estimators (if applicable) Advanced proficiency in estimating tools (Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, etc.) and Excel Strong subcontractor network in NYC Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills Compensation: Salary starting at $175,000 bonus Performance-based bonuses tied to bid success and company growth Potential leadership track (Chief Estimator role) Direct access to ownership and decision-making Strong pipeline of public and commercial projects Opportunity to build and lead the estimating department Long-term growth within an established and respected GC Company Description 20 years of experience delivering commercial, residential, and public sector construction projects.
